Who are we?

Cider Canada / Cidre Canada is a brand new Association for Cider Producers in Canada. The association will bring together cider markers and their provincial associations to develop a stronger community of producers, as well as a vibrant cider industry in Canada.

Cider in Canada

There are approximately 400 cider producers in Canada - which you can see here on our map!

Cider is a rapidly growing industry in Canada. There were only a handful of producers in the 2000’s and now there are over 400 producers across Canada in all provinces (and all but one territory!). Similar to the craft beer movement, cider in Canada now employs an estimated 5000 full-time, 4000 part-time employees with an estimated 39,000,000 total litres of product each year making it the 4th largest alcoholic beverage behind beer, wine (which cider is currently classified under), and spirits.

Our members range from multi-million dollar producers, who support thousands of jobs across the country, to small farm-based producers, who are key economic drivers in their rural communities. Producers are currently facing large production increases due to increased price of apples and juice, transportation costs, bottle/can availability, the labour market, and inflation touching nearly every aspect of their business, especially cumbersome after the pandemic.

Cider Canada welcomes cider makers and producers operating in Canada to join our association; for details on 2024 membership dues and beyond, click here for our industry website. In collaboration with provincial associations, we advocate for Provincial and Federal changes, covering aspects like tax, distribution, and enhancing awareness with elected officials. Alongside the Cider Institute of North America, we provide multifaceted educational and training opportunities to ensure our members are always updated.

Members are privy to exclusive discounts to streamline operations, ranging from equipment and insurance to health benefits. Additionally, stay abreast of the latest provincial, national, and international cider-related news. Beyond services, our members join a thriving community, connecting through specialized email groups, Facebook, and Instagram. Furthermore, our dedicated team offers support in drafting and submitting applications to various grant programs.
